Takouba for comment

I would like to have some opinion about this Takouba. I 'm wondering if it's a sword for tourist market .
Any comment on it will be welcome.

Sorry didn't spot this before! Yes, this looks like a 1970s-1990s sword.

The blade decoration is a late variation. While perhaps not specifically tourist, it is certainly not very old.

My guess was that it was not old and also a poor quality blade.

The scabbard finial looks like it is Tuareg. Did they use the takouba as well?

Yes, the form is typical for the entire western Sahel and deep into West and Central Africa. Here's a rough range map I threw together. If anything the range is a bit larger than that.

Hi Iain and Cerjak,
I woold suggest to shift the range a little bit. Maybe not so deep to the south in Cameroon and west Nigeria and definitely more to the north in the area along the Libya-Ageria border - up to Ghadames town (old Azjer confederation). Cerjak, try to look into old threads abou "takouba" etc. Regards,
