Picked this up cheap today, very solid and utilitarian. Is it a parang or something else? Where and when?

Hello Marcus,
it is a knife from the Philippines, Luzon. Exact name I am not able to tell you but others will be able. Nice find! Regards, Detlef |

Hello Marcus, A nice catch especially when it still has the original leather scabbard with it. I agree with Detlef that it is originally from the Philippines and made on Luzon. If I had to put a name to it I would just refer to it as being a small bolo. Again, a very nice catch.
Best, Robert |
