Odd WWII US/T'boli/Maguindanao Dagger

Greetings folks,

I just got this off eBay. It looks like a WWII US blade with a T'boli cast brass custom hilt, a Maguindanao custom made scabbard out of wood and white metal (I tested the metal), and rubber insulated wire wrap (spray painted gold) around the mid-section.

Interesting piece with cultural crossovers (what do you think Charles?). The US serviceman must have been stationed on Mindinao during WWII.

yes it does look like an US M3 Fighting knife blade , similar to this one I have .

Nice pick-up Jose!

I can't speak to the cultural crossovers here because I don't know enough about T'boli blades other than some basics, but I am expecting some interesting insight from other collectors of Filipino blades.

Congrats, now I know it in good hands!

I was bidding as well but forget to give my final bid because a friend visiting me. Why you think it's an american blade? The dagger Thinreadline show is similar but not the same.

It is without doubt a very interesting dagger, a little bit gunong like.

I would agree that it has an American blade , and that it is a WW2 M3 blade which has been re shaped towards the point. . There are certain distinctive features such as the shape at the ricasso and the blade profile which strongly indicate it to be an M3 .

You could be correct after a second look and the possibility that it could be reshaped.
