Need help identifying script on Barong
Hello all,
This is my first post as a new member. I have two massive Barongs with talisman on the blades. One has script that I would like to try to identify. Thanks! Dave |

Welcome to our little forum!
Dave you have two nice and interesting barongs there. The top one has what looks like to me an okir stylized centipede - a talismanic symbol. The pommel on his one is also very interesting and different. The bottom barong looks like jawi script, but I do see the name of Allah in there. If we could only get someone to read jawi........ |

Thanks for the kind comments. I am very excited to be on this site and even though I am an avid collector, I fear I lack sufficient knowledge in the items I like and I appreciate the forums help.

Our knowledge and wisdom come from the fact that we are all learners here, and have so much more to learn.

Very nice and unusual Barong - congratulations.
Actually God's (Allah's) 100th (secret) name is on the blade, but in the form of the seal of Solomon (the stars). According to the Islamic esoteric tradition this name has very strong talismanic powers and if you can pronounce this name you can perform miracles. Michael |
