Things are a bit quiet here lately, so I thought I'd throw this hilt into the ring and see what thoughts on origin might be generated.
It has puzzled me for a long time. Anybody got any ideas where it might come from? |

It looks like a fusion between badek and keris bugis hilt.

AFAIK this type of hilt is associated with the Jambi region - pics of some more examples can be found in Karsten's kris disk. Your hilt seems to be another nice flamboyant variant! Regards, Kai |

Thanks Kai.
It came off a Peninsula style keris --- the owner wouldn't sell me the keris, but he replaced this hilt with an ivory one and let me have the hilt. |
