THIS FINE SPECIMIN IS MY GAUDIEST AND I CHALLENGE ONE AND ALL TO TOP IT.
![]() PLEASE EXCUSE THE QUALITY OF MY PICTURES AS I HAD TO GO BACK TO MY OLD CAMERA WHICH IS NOT VERY GOOD BECAUSE I COULD NEVER FIGURE OUT HOW TO RESIZE PHOTOS FROM MY GOOD CAMERA. THIS FINE DAGGER IS MUCH MORE MAGNIFICENT IN PERSON AND SURLEY BELONGED TO THE GREAT POOBAH HIMSELF. ![]() |

I RAN ACROSS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THIS SORT OF DAGGER ON EBAY. IT WAS IDENTIFIED AS AN ETHIOPEAN DRESS DAGGER. I DIDN'T BUY IT SO THERE MAY BE HOPE OUT THERE FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE KING OF BLING

These all look like they've come straight out of Elton John's cutlery drawer.

--Brilliantly or excessively showy. --Cheaply showy in a tasteless way. --Ostentatiously ornamented. The Wallace Collection dagger you show above is one of the most beautiful and outstanding examples of Mughal art. As such, and considering the content of this thread, I'd refrain from using the term "gaudiest". "Brilliantly made" is more like it:-) |
