My Second, Third, & Possibly Third Amazonian Club
I recently bid on & won these 3 clubs; one I knew for sure was Amazonian, but I only recently learned that the fluted club was a Karaja War Club(information provided by a previous post from the Great VANDOO); the 3rd I assumed was a Massim Club, but could I be wrong on that assumption?
The more I come into contact with these clubs, the more I appreciate them! |

The one you are not sure of is Amazonian and I like it very much. Possibly I need it far more than you.

Tim, I've seen your amazing collection posted and I doubt that you need any club from the Amazon, much less you probably don't have room for even one more, lol.
Can you tell me what tribe that club is from? |

Looking in AMNH data base and The museum of American Indian data base, there are similar examples with not a lot more information other than North West Brazil. Some examples are recorded as being from the Peruvian Amazon and the Columbian Amazon. As we all know some collection records are somewhat unreliable or just wrong. However look at a map of the Brazilian State of Amazonas and a vast area of the north west borders the afore mentioned states. Like all ethno weapons swords, axes, daggers etc, have forms that cross many regions and modern borders. The likeness of these examples I think leaves little doubt that your club is from this North West border regions of Amazonas. It is also rather nice.

This example from the British Museum online collection is recorded as Bora a people that cross the border regions mentioned. They will not be the only peoples that do so.
