Posting advice

Does anyone have any advice in posting edged weapons from the UK to the US ? I have just had a bad experience posting to one of our members in the US using Parcel2go and UPS. Parcel is coming back to me as apparently it contains prohibited items although I could not see that on the UPS website. In the past I have never had any problems at all but I have not shipped for a couple of years.
Who do you use and what do you use for a description.
All suggestions gratefully received.
