Hello all,
couldn't help myself, saw this on online and was drawn to it. Knew it was quite big from dimensions provided. Description read "Full length-830mm weight-1.3kg
Good condition.". But when in carpark doing the handover was stunned when sword pulled out of back of car, to be truthful kinda swooned. Anyways if anyone could help identify what it is, where it's from and age would be grateful. Apologies for pictures, couldn't take till got home from work, kiddies fed and other husbandly/daddy duties before some me time.

sorry, it is a recently worked golok from Java, Indonesia for those who travel! Have a look to ebay, after some time you will find some similar.

He's right, it looks to me like some Indonesian blade, but one thing I've noticed about these is, they do have quite nice carvings sometimes. Some will only collect antiques, but there's some to be said about the wood carving skills and style of modern blades.

They like making dragon, naga, garuda, cobra, tiger and other hilts now to show off their carving skill

Saw one here, yes the wood work is really good. The blade was also deadly sharp..

The most I have seen in the last time similar like this one have had crudely carvings and not comparable with old carvings. The blades are ok. The ones which are used by Indonesians for agricultural purposes are most of the time without carvings. Goloks like this are only worked for tourists, sorry.

As said by other members, tourist stuff from Java, Indonesia.

But if you like it it is ok. You can do some awfull damage with such a golok.
