				 | Rhino koummya

I was lucky enough to find this Moroccan koummya with rhino hilt. I post it here because a friend asked to see it. It has a brass and silver scabbard with very good decoration. Blade is very dark with little pitting and after some etching with vinegar I imagine a pattern of damascus. Except dark blade everything else is fine. |

Very nice puppy. I usually don't go for these, but this one with the silver and the rhino horn (and it is true rhino horn - it is translucent) is very nice indeed. I doubt that you will find a damascus steel blade however. I just love good rhino horn. |

Rhino horn is not always translucent. I have one totally black under any light. And another one is a dark brown that is little translucent only in front of a very strong light. It has to do with the process or the different kind of rhinos? I don’t know. I need to add that I love rhino horns too. But only proven antique ones. And only on antique daggers. I hate the idea that someone can kill a rhino today for a dagger. It is a crime Last edited by Yannis; 31st July 2006 at 06:00 PM. |
