Hello members,
just acquired this lowlander tenegre from the Visayans. I think that the handle is from horn, but not sure since I haven't received it until now. Will post more pictures when I have it in my hands. What do you think how old this sword can be? From which of the Visayan islands it could be? All comments are welcome. Regards, Detlef |

Hi Detlef,
It's a good looking piece. The blade looks like very nice quality, thick and extremely carefully ground and finished. When you have it, I'll be interested to hear where the point of balance is and how it feels in hand! Best Gene |

It seems to my inexpert eye to be more solid and functional than many. The Hilt and metal guard/collar have a lovely even patina. Do you assume that the knuckle bow is bronze like the collar? A little buff with a soft cloth should give them a soft sheen which will be perfect. |

the solid appearance was the reason that I buy it. Hope as well that the guard is from brass. I normally don't like to polish brass but i think that this one will look better with the brass polished special because the brass look so dull. |

NICE ONE indeed. So neat overall and great condition! Strange actually these 'animalheads' look so much like rhinoceros! Anyone knows what they should depict??; Dragon/naga??
Congrats with this nice Tenegre! |

Today I received the tenegre and I am very satisfied with my new toy!
![]() Handle is like supposed from horn, ferrule and guard from iron. The sheath missing two brass (?) bands at the leather throat otherwise it is in very good condition. The blade is very well worked and finished. The feel in the hand is very good and the blade is well balanced. As for the age I think that it is pre WWII since the leather throat is attached in the old way. Here are some first pictures, more will follow. Regards, Detlef |

Here some more pictures, sorry for quality, it is a very bad light here in Germany at the moment.
Have carefully cleaned the blade and the brass rings in front, need to be polished in the back. Any statements for the age? |
