First things first: thank you for letting me join. I have the usual newbie questions.. what's this and how do I clean it! I am an historical novelist who writes novels based in Islamic Spain and I am interested in getting the weaponry right By way of starting off my postings I thought I might ask guidance on a couple of objects (not to do with Islamic Spain!) which I picked up in a souk in Oman. Am I right in thinking these are a 'jerz' and the blade of a 'khanjar'. They both look like fairly work-a-day objects meant for everyday use rather than for show or for the tourist trade. That's what attracted me to them I guess. I suspect they are both fairly modern object but I would welcome ant comments on them that anyone may have. Perseus |

What would be of great help is if you post pictures of the dagger(s) in question. |
