20th C traditional pira

To continue the theme of Moro weapons made in the 20th C, the accompanying picture illustrates four pira that have been made, more or less, in the traditional style with a prolonged extension coming from the end of the hilt. I believe that all of these date from the 20th C, probably post-WW II, and each has a horn hilt with a longer ferrule than on older forms. The blades vary in shape and length, and I only have a scabbard for the top one. In keeping with tradition, the scabbard is a plain wooden sheath.

These 20th C "traditional" pira need to be distinguished from a different style that appears to have arisen in the 20th C that has a hilt with a down-turned end.

Truly antique pira from before 1900 are very hard to find, although there are pictures of several examples on this site.
