Default kampilans for sale

Hello everyone, here are four kampilans for sale. I am listing these for a friend of mine who is moving on from moro collecting into other areas, a description for each is included, Prices include Priority mail shipping in lower 48, actual shipping cost will have to be charged to other destinations, of course. Thanks, jim

PIRA Simple forged to shape blade shows lamination in spots. Blade seems to have been badly bent and professionally (blacksmith) straightened during its working life. The shape of the wrinkled dent may suggest a bullet strike. Original tailed wooded handle is burled at the blade end, straight heart grain at the pommel. $245

KAMPILAN #1 A relatively basic model from the early 20th century. Particularly robust, with 31 1/2" forged tapered blade. Slight chip to pommel, several small nicks in edge. $200

KAMPILAN #2 This one has a one piece handle and guard instead of the usual two pieces of wood, because it is not from Mindinao, but from another of the islands where the kampilan form has spread, possibly Sumba, but we're not sure. Rare hilt form. Particularly wide 27" blade. $300

KAMPILAN #3 Good fairly typical example of a late 19th or early 20th century sword with a 30 1/2" forged tapered blade. Pommel is nicely carved. All 3 original woven rattan grip bindings are in good condition. There are slight chips to the pommel and about 1/8" of the tip is lost. The snake guard is tight. $300

KAMPILAN #4 A 19th century sword with simple probably ancestral style blade (28 1/2" long, 1/4" thick) that shows lamination lines in its smooth gray patina. The mandau-like double clipped tip never had a spikelet and is slightly rounded from sharpening and use. The guard and pommel are some kind of dark ironwood/macassar ebony; the guard solid black, and the pommel with fine black and dark brown grain layers. There are hole for 27 hair tufts, all missing. The 3 original grip bindings are cord rather than rattan. The 2 silver medallions show more wear than the 2 bands of matching metal, which seem like later (albeit still old) additions. The snake guard seems to have been meant to rattle, and there are two additional holes for binding the sword to the weilder's hand. $500
