			Greetings,

Does anyone have in their collection or have seen a Hadendowa spear like the one in the photograph?(Sorry for the un-rotated photo.) I've never seen them discussed on the forum or seen one for sale. I've seen a couple on the street in Kassala carried by some pretty serious looking dudes. I had a chance to buy one in the Suk al Hadad, but since I already had a sack of kaskara, I passed. In hindsight that was probably an oversight. The spear is in two steel sections joined by a section of wood. This was the Hadendawa's and probably Beni Amir of Eritrea's primary weapon before the kaskara. I think it would have been a superior infantry weapon to the kaskara. Your thoughts, Ed |

			Hello Edster,

The spear on the photo - it is so short including the wooden middle part ? As far as the spearhead is concerned, this shape was also common in the northern part of Ethiopia, but those spears were missing iron toe. Regards, Martin |
