Mystery double stag horn knives
Hello,
I found this pair of unusual stag horn knives a while back. Everything was VERY dirty and the blades had some rust before I cleaned things up. The blades are substantial and secure. No doubt these would be deadly weapons. Other than the decoration in silver you see here, there are no identifying marks on the blades or scabbard. The elephant motif suggests India or perhaps Bhutan. The set reminds me of a set of Bao An knives from Tibetan Autonomous Region. Similar in overall size and construction, if not exact shape, of the blades. They were intended to be concealed in the robes of monks at a Buddhist monastery and used for self protection. Could these have a similar function? Or this might just be tourist junk! Any ideas? Best Regards, Dave A. |

Although i haven't the slightest idea, i don't think it is tourist junk. If it is tourist junk then it is the better tourist stuff. India, Tibet possibly. Maybe even Thai.
Anyway, I like it. |
