Interesting Knife/Dagger...Sinhalese?
Here is a lovely little dagger with all sorts of interesting things going on with it, but I would like more feedback on its origins.
The dagger seems to borrow the hilt style of an Indonesian badek/badik, but with a very different built-in bolster fitted to a silver ferrule. The knife has a simple blade which is decorated with silver inlay and silver overlay to the fuller. The scabbard is lacquered with floral motifs and colors(red, gold, and black) well known to weapons from Ceylon/Lanka, Kandy in particular, I believe. The silver locket and chape are in quality silver with lovely, detailed, floral motifs. I believe it is Sinhalese, but am very open to other opinions. Dimensions: Overall length: 11.75in. Blade length: 6.25in Blade width at the forte: 1.25in. |

Do you think the hilt is Sinhalese? I was thinking it is an Indonesian badek form with a scabbard made for a Dutch customer.
