I just bought this and has not arrived yet. Curious to get some thoughts on it, age? Victorian copy? It is out of area but could not pass it up for the price...Seller thought it was from around turn of 20th Century.
24 inches overall, about 3 pounds Thanks |

Hello: I wanted to follow up on this since I received the item today. The head is approximately 5.5 inches and overall weight is 2 pounds, 4 oz. 24 inches in total length.
The head is hand forged, not cast and the handle is hand planed. The handle is old, but I feel that the head is older. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks again. |

not too bad for holding. As mentioned, 2 pounds, slightly more. Definitely solid, not a toy.
Curious as to age...handle is not as old as the head in my opinion. |

Thank you for the feedback. I assumed so, but good to get confirmation. As my total investment was under $50, not so bad.

My apologies but one additional question:
is there any possibility that the head can be older than the haft and langets? Difficult to see from the pictures, but the head appears older and seems hammered to the more modern langets. Thanks again |

This is also on the other side of the hammer head. Not sure if a maker mark?
