				 | "Turkish Dagger" ?

This is a family heirloom found on the battle fields in the midle east somewhere by my Grandmothers half brother. He gave it to my grandfather . When my grandmother died my father kept it now it is in my possesion. What I know of it very little. My father told me his uncle picked it up off a battle field and then had the engineers make a brass sheath for it. I know I have pictures of my great Uncles showing Turkish POW's so it could well be Turkish but it also looks Arabic there are some small bits of decoration missing and a large bit of white ivory missing. This bit I want to address and fill with something akin to Ivory as it is causing the rest of the handle to suffer. I do not want to hide the repair just save the rest from falling to pices, on the other hand I do not want it to stand out like a sore thumb like a piece of white plastic. Any one have any idea of what I can use? To me it is not a valuble item cash wise but it is personaly and so I do not want it to deteriorate further. http://homepage.mac.com/cool_dude_na...toAlbum17.html Southerner It has traveled a bit from its homeland as it now resides in the Falkland Islands |
