This is very sad news. Robert was a friend, a valued member of the forum and an exceptional restorer. He will be missed.

Detlef, thank you for posting this sad news. Robert had not been present here for some time, but it should be remembered that he was a key Moderator of this Ethnographic Forum for many years. He and I shared a common interest in many ethnographic weapons and, although our overlapping time on the Forum was fairly brief, I regard Robert as a very important contributor to this Forum.

This is very sad news indeed, and quite honestly I have wanted to add here, but it has been difficult to put together adequate words. He was the epitome of enthusiast, scholar and profoundly a gentleman. His kind words and generous assistance were his standard, and I will never forget his steadfast support.

I had not been aware of the difficulties and issues he had suffered in recent years, and know he is now at peace.

Farewell for now Robert, you have made your mark here, now rest.

Thank you, Jim.
You really did find the right words!
Robert was a very good friend of mine for many years, and I will miss him very much!
