			Hello friends,

Happy to share with you a pinuti (lawi-lawi). According to the previous owner, this was collected in Cebu. This is my first pinuti and upon research, it may be a lawi-lawi version with a 'sunoy' handle (making it a fighting blade). over-all length: 24.25 inches/ blade: 17.75 inches. Not so sure about the hilt and scabbard material. Hardwood or carabao horn(?) not so sure really. adorned with mother-of-pearl. Enjoy and kind regards, Yves Trivia(read): the Visayan term lawi-lawi comes from the word 'LAWI'- which is the longest and topmost feathern of a rooster which is curved down. If one will straighten it, it resembles the blade shape of the LAWI bolo. SUNOY- meaning rooster hilt design. |
