			Hi all,

I was walking through the Israel museum in Jerusalem yesterday and came to the section of ethnographic collections. They have a decent African, South American and Oceanic collections. I don't know anything about Oceanic stuff, but I remembered that there are more than a few enthusiasts here and I took some pictures. I only had my low-end cellphone with me, so the quality is not great. In the first picture, 3 ceremonial clubs: the upper one is a Rorormaraug from the Solomon Islands, the second one is from New Caledonia and the third from Vanuatu, all from late 19th-early 20th c. In the second and 3rd picture are shields from Papua-New Guinea/ Irian Yaya if I am not mistaken (beautiful, aren't they?). In the last picture some miscellaneous clubs, some of which I have seen in the forum before. I only remember that the left one is from Easter Island. |
