I think I can make out a _128 on the top-left corner of the inscription. That would make it (1)716 on the Gregorian calendar.

This type of Yataghans are commonly regarded as Balkan (The big wide walrus pommel ears). They were very common in the 19 C. I would be surprised to find an early 18 C. one. The blade could be an early one re-mounted in the 19 C. Yet, the quality of the silver work is 19 C. and I would expect a much better Caligraphy in the early 18 C. Another posibility is to read the date as 1280 (the short line after the figure 8 might be a 0) which makes 1863 in the Gregorian calendar.

Well, rather common variant, but still quite desiderable and well made Bosnian style yataghan from 1850-1890, or more precisely, like Mr. Yarom said, made in 1863 AD.

It would be nice if someone'd be able to translate the inscription....

but still yet the arabic script for 2 or 3,

presently arabic reader, said 1380

the transcrition for the first sentence is;

apparently, the script is in arabic alphabet, but not the language

It really cannot be 1960 Gregorian. Also, i would be VERY surprised if it were dated 1128H. I, just like Artzi, see 1280H

I just retrancript, and difficult for me to argument,
because I'm not arab native

but my translator, her ... she IS without contestation

... nevertheless

- without to denied the beauty of that yatagan, it's looks relatively recent

- well know that the East countries are over flooding the international market with copies, some times from very good black-smith or blade-smith

- they may honestly signed and dated their production ... why not

any way, I'm extremely reserved when it's matter of date, even and specially when that one it's mentionned some where,
when the blade is in "Joar" the sentence is clear,
the other are just a speculation at my point of view

what is mentionned in above, it's not "THE TRUTH", just my true

I know of a similar one with horn grips and a less fancy grip divider but with tat same knurled circle mark.

Pictures, a few. Afaik, still on the market.
