				 | Bugis Keris Exhibition @ Jakarta

An upcoming event on Bugis Keris spearheaded by The Bugis Makassar Polobessi Club (TBMPC). The exhibition will be held in conjunction with the "Pusaka Senjata Bugis" (Bugis Weapons Heritage) book launch. I've seen the draft of this monumental book written in Bahasa Indonesia with lots of illustrations and examples of Bugis weapons including the keris, badik, various swords and spears. Collectively known as 'polobessi' (tosan aji). A portion of the knowledge were extracted and translated from the lontara scripts. The exhibition will be held at Bentara Budaya, Jakarta, Indonesia. On behalf of TBMPC, all are welcome. |

				 | Bugis keris making demo

There will also be keris-making demo. A good opportunity to learn about Bugis weaponry from Sulawesi and around the malay/indonesian archipelago. |

Hello Detlef.. At this time, I don't have much info. I'll update when I get more details. The book will be for sale during the launch, though. |

Like Shahrial just said, this exhibition will be held in conjunction with "Senjata Pusaka Bugis" book launch. Yes, it could be translated as "Bugis Weapon Heritage" -- Written by Ahmad Ubbe (you may find in facebook too, Abe Ubbe) and two other colleagues, Andi M Irvan Zulfikar and a local 'pamong praja' Dray Vibrianto Senewe. Actually, Mr Ubbe is a doctorate degree in Hukum Adat Bugis (Bugis Adat Law) and a Bugis keris passionate for couple of years. His research on some old lontara scripts in old Bugis dialect, IMHO, is fascinating. It should be valuable for the development of keris "science" in the future... Some interesting explanations on the philosophy of pamor motifs according to Bugis lontara scripts -- are of the most valuable info of this book. @Detlef, yes, there will be a catalogue too for this exhibition, in Bahasa Indonesia of course...
