There is an exhibit at the Freer Sackler Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution that will be closing in a day or 3 .

The Exhibition title is: 'Encompassing the Globe; Portugal and the World in the 16th and 17th Centuries' .

I had the good fortune to be able to attend this stunning and comprehensive presentation; for me it was an incredible experience... (Then again they don't let me out much.

)

Museums from all over the world have contributed some of their finest ethnographic and Portuguese works of art to this show.

If you are a collector or afficionado of any of the cultures touched by
Portuguese explorers during this time I would highly recommend that you purchase the catalogue . It is a sumptuous feast for the eyes and mind .
