There is an exhibit at the Freer Sackler Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution that will be closing in a day or 3 .
The Exhibition title is: 'Encompassing the Globe; Portugal and the World in the 16th and 17th Centuries' . I had the good fortune to be able to attend this stunning and comprehensive presentation; for me it was an incredible experience... (Then again they don't let me out much. )Museums from all over the world have contributed some of their finest ethnographic and Portuguese works of art to this show. If you are a collector or afficionado of any of the cultures touched by Portuguese explorers during this time I would highly recommend that you purchase the catalogue . It is a sumptuous feast for the eyes and mind . http://www.freersacklershop.com/engl.html Last edited by Rick; 12th September 2007 at 03:53 PM. |
