Two Burmese knives for sale from the early 20th C. I purchased them together at the same auction, and they apparently came from the same collector who was actively collecting in the 1980s and 1990s. They are both dressed in chased brass hilts and scabbards. The blades are much better than average for this style of Burmese knife, with sharpened edges, and the khoftgari decorations on the blades are of good quality (unlike many "tourist" versions of these knives). There are certainly better and far worse examples of these knives, but I would class them as medium+ quality.
Knife 1: This one measures 15 in. in the sheath, blade = 7.5 in., hilt = 6.0 in. The back edge of the blade is swaged over the last 2 in. Knife 2: This one measures 15 in. in the sheath, blade = 8.25 in., hilt = 6 in. The back edge of the blade is swaged over the last 3.25 in. Asking Prices: US$175.00 for each of them, plus shipping, insurance To save you money, I ship with Australia Post (with tracking and insurance) which is less than half the cost of private shipping companies. Please request a shipping price. Each knife should weigh about 500–700 gm when packed. Obviously less if you want both in the same package. Shipping to the U.S.A. is a crap shoot at the moment considering the highly confused tariff situation created by President Trump. In the past, this item would have fallen below the de minimus level for import duty. Now it likely will attract import costs levied by U.S. Customs. I am very reluctant to ship any edged items to the U.S. at the present time. Please note, I do not ship to China or Russia. Last edited by Ian; Yesterday at 12:47 PM. Reason: Spelling |
