Salaams Kubur, Yes I can tell you lots about the item. First and foremost there is a lot written and pictured by me on Omani Khanjars. This should suffice from the research angle.

What you have here, however, is a purely tourist item not at all of any intrinsic value ...I think this example is probably an Indian item for the mass tourist market. The thin white metal strips and oversized miri bota (paisley pattern) shapes which are probably cheap white metal.. configured on a very cheap blade ~on a cow horn hilt are indicative of a less than well made ethnographic piece. This is an item made with shall we say.. a hot needle ..in tailoring terms..

In terms of lessons in what not to add to your collection... I think this is it...
