The book is on its way. There is a section on imported weapons mainly guns but there might also be info on swords.

I think it is safe to assume that swords and knives of the same general appearance and manufacture as the weapons in question. Are a pan Sahel form. There may well be many subtle styles and variations that are peculiar to specific areas that we are not able to discern with any certainty. They are often called Sudan but that must be the in old sense of the term. They are not from the South Sudan. The picture I post are from-
