It's quite a bit bigger than any paring knife I own, but I do agree it looks an awful lot like a kitchen knife. I think I read somewhere that the Bedouin used to repurpose old English kitchen knives as belt/utility knives, maybe this influenced the local style? Or maybe it's just an old kitchen knife they traded to a gullable westerner. The blade looks hand forged so at the very least it didn't come out of a factory.
