Not to take away from the quality of the work, which is indeed nice, but i would say that this kind of dress is probably much more common today than it was back in the day. Dress which was once reserved for either royalty or people of very high social status are today available to anyone who can afford to pay for it. You almost never see antique dress with toli-toli of these materials. When you do they are usually part of some royal regalia. Of course, the really royal examples that get this extravagant with dress are generally all gold, not silver. You might find this thread interesting and pertinent to this subject.
