Smile Koummya with good blade

I'm offering here a genuine, vintage Koummya of typical Moroccan style. I obtained this and another Koummya several years ago out off the collection of a late Austrian ambassador in Morocco.

The blade is well tempered and tapers evenly towards the tip. Also, its maximum thickness of 3.6 mm is consistent with the range documented in antique Koummya (see http://www.vikingsword.com/ethsword/koummya/index.html) while the blades for "travellers of pleasure" tend to be flimsy and non-functional. I'd date this fully functional piece to the first half of the 20th century and would appreciate any frank comments from forumites.

The solid hilt is made of heavily patinated hardwood (one side with a non-destabilizing age crack) and silvered brass. The scabbard is also heaviy decorated and partly covered with silver. There are remnants of what appears to be enamel work inside the repousse.

Total length (with scabbard) is 17" (43.4 cm); hilt 6" (15.2 cm) and blade 10" (25.5 cm). Weight over 500g.

Asking price is $95. Feel free to ask for other details or more pics; please send me an email for faster communication since I can't access PM at work. Thanks for your interest!

Regards,
Kai
