Mandau with these flamboyant fittings are not meant for use but rather are offered to those who travel for pleasure (and possibly used in touristic dancing events). There are some earlier examples which were gifts to colonial dignitaries.
This example looks post-WW2 to me. There is a chance that the blade may be a worn older one (better pics needed of both sides) - not holding my breath though...
