I assume the hammer replacement is nothing out of the norm and must have happened all the time, it definitely has plating of age to it
Escutcheon could have been added after leaving military service
Where the lock is worn there may have been government markings it is quiet worn
But I am not making any defence to your observations as I agree with them all so far
I will be taking the gun apart as it is badly varnished and I wish to remove this, I will get photos of the internals once I have this done and see if there are any more clues inside, I will do this in a few weeks as I have a workshop to build at moment
