There are 2 possibilities here.

1) That this is the 9th musket in the company commanded by an officer of the name.

2)That this is a private musket held in a communal armoury, either for use by the owner or a part of the owner's collection of weapons, to be used by men not wealthy enough to buy their own muskets.

Both are possible and without knowing where the musket came from & how town militias were organised in that area, it's going to be difficult to decide which applies here
