Default An unusual Moroccan?? powder flask-interesting!

Moroccan powder flask
Interesting Moroccan powder flask

We had a good number of North African powder flasks over the years, but nothing quite like this one. We’re guessing at Morocco as the place of origin, the cord lugs especially being very reminiscent of those found on Koummya dagger scabbards. The body of the flask is made of what appears to be horn, but it’s the extensive and intricate metal working that really set this piece apart. The various studs, bands and central filling boss are made from brass which has a deep and very attractive patina. The pouring spout is complete with its cap. We believe the suspension cord to be original to the flask. General condition overall is good, some bits of brass sheeting are lifting and in a few small areas missing and there are some old glue repairs to the sheet work-the photo’s tell a far better story. Overall length 24cm. A fine item with good age. There is the word Perry or Berry stamped into the back strapping, see pics. £100 inc shipping.
