Default Maranao Moro Sarimanok Statue

I know this isn't a weapon of any sorts, but I think relates to some of the topics here, particularly the Moro discussions. And I figured some of you might enjoy the share. Here's a Sarimanok statue I picked up off e-prey the other week. I rarely see these go up for sale anywhere, and I really don't think people are on the look out for these. So only me and one other person bid on this item(sorry if you were that other person), and I thought I really got a good deal on it. The seller only posted one pic, and it was not a good detailed one(almost thought I over paid). Prior to bidding, I originally thought the Sarimanok was the goofiest looking folk animal to come out of the Philippines, so much so that I almost didn't bother. But when the bird came in I was awed by how detailed it was. Excellent quality for the amount I paid. Carvings are great, and the parts made of bone just make it all the more pleasant to stare at. And now I have grown to like the Sarimanok. I really love it, and I can just keep this displayed openly in my home. If you are in to Moro artifacts, I highly recommend getting your very own mythical Sarimanok to compliment your collection.

I really don't know how old this one is, maybe someone out there can let me know, and possibly what type of bone they probably used. The bones feel very soft and smooth to the touch and has a good hefty weight to it. This one is also missing the fish dangling from the birds mouth, but I don't mind.

It is a little over a foot tall. Just under a foot long. And just under a foot in wing span.

Some general info on the Sarimanok. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarimanok
