Default PALAWAN BADUNG 2

Hi friends,

I want to share with you some info regarding the 2 Palawan Palawan'on badungs which I've posted. I have made a schematic diagram for better understanding. Kindly refer to my postings: Palawan Badung and Palawan badung 2;

Notes:

1) this information was gathered by yours truly from the very artisan(Palawan'on Tribe) who made these 2 blades.

2) These blades are ethnic designs of the Palawan'on tribe (not the Moro type badung).

Here goes:
1) The ethnic Palawan'on has 2 general types of badungs.

a) BANDYAR: BADUNG-BADUNG. a classic example would be my post Palawan Badung 2. The blade is not wide and usually the widest part of the blade is approximately 1-inch(more or less). It is a short blade. My example has an OAL of 17.75 inches with a 9.75-inch blade. Blade width: 1 inch.

b) BANDYAR: BADUNG- I have no finished example yet as of the moment (being forged as we speak). Although the width of the blade is the same as that of the badung-badung type, it has a longer blade.

2) SAPTUNGGAL: BADUNG. A classic example would be my post Palawan badung. The blade is wide, normally between 2.5-3.5 inches, and the blade is long. My example has an overall length of 26-inches with a 16-inch blade and 2.5 inches wide. The blade is long.

3) SAPTUNGGAL: BUNA-BUNA. I have no finished example yet as of the moment(being forged as we speak). The width of the blade is much the same with the saptunggal badung, but the blade's length is much shorter (usually between 6-7 inches).

Enjoy and be safe everyone,

Yves

Note the blade of the saptunggal badung is pretty much the same as that of a moro badung.
