That is a nice example in excellent condition. I have one that is almost exactly the same (http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ght=chain+whip), but without the interesting leaf shaped decorations. I have only seen two examples of this particular kind of chain whip, but the swivel design with the embossed "rays" and individually swiveling "stirrup", is found on many Chinese soft weapons (not that these are soft ). The antiques are slightly shorter and heavier than modern versions making for a faster whipping action. They are absolutely terrifying to use.
