Tjikeroeh (or Cikeruh) is a village on Java, where a lot of swords were forged at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. You find inscriptions like Tjikeroeh (the most complete one),Chike, Tjike Tjikr etc., and often an inscription of a year, mostly between 1900 and 1920.

The blades vary in shape from long and almost straight to short and broad, a bit like a bowie knife.
The patterns on the blade are very alike on any blade from that area.
The hilt often represents a stylized bird, but sometimes has a more 'European' shape and may be of wood, horn or even ivory. The scabbard may be of leather, like yours, or of wood.

Nice original piece! Prices are not dicussed on this forum though.
