Zamboanga City's biggest secret in barong making is Jimmy Lubian - considered as the premiere modern barong maker in the entire Zamboanga peninsula. His clientele includes the top brass in the military and the police; elite personalities of the muslim community and the City government. He even counts ASG and MNLF members as his regular customers.
He produces a limited number of high quality modern barongs. A Lubian barong bears the following distinction: a distinctive
ukkil enqraving on its mother of pearl inlays; high quality mono steel blades; white brass ferrules on banati hilts; and, rattan-wrapped scabbards.
The one here for sale has a 16" blade with an overall length of about 23".
