As written before… the “ green” ones were made in and only appeared during the Habsburg period 1878-1918 and after manufacturing of bichaqs was forbidden in 1878, later only approved for “ infidels” , i.e. either officers of the Bosniaken Infanterie Regimente I to IV which were Austrians with a few Hungarians as exception, dignateries like businessmen from Austria or Germany ( the “Schwaben” as they were called then and still now….) and the few lord majors …

if your assumption would have been the case, why are there no “green” ones before Habsburg in the Ottoman period which was more Islamic….

Nowhere in any publication has something like this been ever mentioned. So “ may have been” is unfortunately just a speculation not substantiated by any proof or literature. Nor is it seen in any yataghan at all...only a few bichaqs (Next to the fact that hadjis in the Balkans like Bosnia, Albania, Makedonia did manifest their hadj voyage in complete different ways compared to the Arab and Turkish peoples and cultures. Sorry Jose but you are mistaken here…

For those interested to do some further research: The Bosniak Institute–Adil Zulfikarpašić’s Foundation in Sarajevo had a great exhibition in 2018 on Bosnian weapons ( a few pictures I did leave here in the forum) has a great librairy and speaks perfect English : be my guest to contact them as they are most kind and willing to provide more details and information from the interested to the professional scolar. Just like the National Museum in Sarajevo.
Next I can provide you with a literature list of books about history, culture, religions of Bosnia from the Illyrians till the present day, including arms, Islam and Sufism and a little from personal experience having lived there for a while before the tragic events in the 90ies.
