It can be hard to be positive and confident about objects like this as they are often quite rare and misunderstood, all the more so as they lack any immediate appeal. This picture of a steatite or in other words soapstone bowl is rather interesting. I believe many of the native cultures relating to the picture were materially exceedingly poor like Aus aboriginals. It is also very interesting the incised lines in the stone. I might well go to town in the summer.
