Ian, I never claimed any significance to Pamor on Moro Kris, I just say, that we sometimes see other intended patterns then twisted rods. Please don't put words in my mouth.
Warangan is not a "metallic" acid. There are Moro Kris, which were stained very dark, and that could suggest treatment with Warangan. In fact, such result was achievable only with Warangan. One of these fotos circulated a couple of times on this forum, another one, a Kris from Munich, collected quite early, I posted maybe ten years ago. There are many methods of staining a blade, and there often is more than one used in a region.
