Yes, the "arrowhead" is found on some kris of the late 19th-early 20th C, and sometiimes even more recently. It is an uncommon feature on late era kris and is a throughback (revival) to the earlier style. The heavy blade is clearly not archaic and possibly early 20th C. The elephant trunk area is in the Maranao style. The single asang-asang is consistent with Maranao work also.
Cosmoline is a curse sometimes. It can leave behind a tenacious residue. Modern industrial organic solvents (such as MEK) are effective but it takes some work to get it all off.
