Interesting mask. My first thought is that it is not African. AFAIK, most African masks are made of wood. I have never seen a woven mask like this. Of course, this is not exactly my area of study, but i have seen a lot of African masks in my day.
Second thought is that while not necessarily a sign of being a tourist piece, this mask doesn't seem to show any areas of wear that would give the impression that it had ever been danced. It doesn't seem new, but i don't believe it is very old. Vintage at best i would say.
This mask give me more an impression of South Seas or Southeast Asia than Africa.
