I'm not sure what to make of this thing. It looks extremely old, thick handguard, and heavy. Blade is about 8 inches long. Overall length 12.1/4 inches.

It could be a dagger. But I seem to recall seeing pictures in a book of an antique pike or spear head which looked sort of like this. Any ideas of the origin and purpose of this item? Thanks for looking.
