THE MACANA IS A SHORT HEAVY CLUB WITH SORT OF AN HOURGLASS SHAPE SOMETIMES MOUNTED WITH A STONE BLADE BUT OFTEN WITH NONE. IT IS USED BY THE CARIB , KALINA AND RELATED TRIBES IN GUIANA. THE BRITISH AND THE DUTCH BOTH COLONIZED IN GUIANA SO NO DOUBT A FEW CLUBS AND WEAPONS WENT HOME WITH THEM. NOTE THAT SOME OF THE MACANA CLUBS ARE NOT SQUARE ON THE STRIKING END BUT MORE OF A FLAT BLADE FORM. i DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS A TERM DIFFERENTIATING THESE TWO FORMS. THERE ARE OTHER CLUBS PICTURED ON THE BOOK PLATES WITH THE MACANA CLUBS THAT I WILL COVER LATER.
