Agreed, though obviously it would have a bit more overall
material value if indeed these were actual rubies. But anyone who has studied Balinese keris at all will have no doubt encountered pastes and glass "stone" even in high end hilts that use precious metals and knows that the material value isn't as important as the overall effect in the end.
I also agree that this time round it was a bit of a bargain that i wish i had been able to bid on.
