Repairing an arm dagger.
Hi everybody, I am posting on this old thread as it seems the most relevant to my request for information. I recently swopped for a Sudanese arm dagger, in generaly good condition other than not having it's tang washer, and now being loose. I am going to replace this with an old Egyptian coin.
My query is this, the tang is very narrow, almost wire like, and a loose fit in the hole through the grip, would it originaly be packed in position with a filler of some sort. Or would it simply be held by the peening over of the tang. Btw the dagger is the spitting image of this one, which belong to another member of this forum, the only visible difference the number of turned rings below the pommel disk. Camera bust, so no pics of my own sorry.
