Default Unknown Club for ID & Comment

I've had this club, for a number of years. The tacks, and brass bands seem out of place. I've always felt, that it is an ethnographic piece, up-graded for WWI trench fighting. Maybe Father's, or Grandfather's souvenir, from the Zulu wars? Although, not your typical Knobkerrie. Overall length is 32", with the head being 3" across. Wood is very dense, and heavy, with an open grain. Hard to see, but the tacks are arranged in a spiral. What say ye, learned clubbists? Or is it clubbers?
